Spokesperson for the United States Census 2010
While working at the U.S. Census 2010, I was part of the West Coast Census Media Team which served Northern California, Oregon, Washington State, Idaho, and Alaska. We successfully engaged with minority media including Spanish-speaking and English-fluent Latino Media, Black Media, Asian Media, Native American Media, and LGBTQ+ Media. Our interactions with locally-own small magazines newspapers, radio shows and independent television shows helped to increase participation in the U.S. Census 2010.

Spokesperson during the Carr Fire
In the Summer of 2018, the Carr Fire impacted the lives of people in Shasta and Trinity Counties. Managing the state highways, Caltrans assisted CalFire during and in the aftermath of the disaster; but we also did a little more: in my role as PIO (Public Information Officer) and while most of my peers were evacuated and some had lost their homes, I took full control of the public information office, working 24/7 for weeks to ensure our social media pages were helping CalFire, CHP and other agencies inform the public accurately and timely. News reporters from national and local networks also needed our assistance. We take pride on having served the media promptly, during these difficult times. Our response to the Carr Fire awarded us the “Excellence in Transportation,” Award by the California Transportation Foundation.
